The first idea of a machine controlled by a precompiled work program and the consequent initial prototype is recent history dating back to the years around 1950, but in this short period of time there has been a rapid and intense evolution which has interested and involved all sectors of industrial production, up to touching the dental sector, first with the services offered by large production centers, then also coming to create an offer of products that can be adopted directly by dental laboratories, the so-called Dental Cad Cam. However, such a sudden availability and diffusion of products and services has not been accompanied by the necessary information and training in order to prepare the end users of this revolution who have welcomed the change, some with diffidence and skepticism, not knowing how to grasp the advantages that this technology offered, others with enthusiasm and determination, becoming the pioneers of a new course, with all the advantages and disadvantages of being the forerunners of change.
